POSITION: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
LOCATION: LAGOS
JOB SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth, business expansion, strategic partnerships, and market penetration across the company’s Truck Fleet Operations, Aftersales Maintenance Services, and Real Estate business units.
This role requires a highly commercial, strategic, and relationship-oriented professional with the ability to identify new business opportunities, convert prospects into long-term clients, strengthen existing customer relationships, and provide Executive Management with insight into emerging industry opportunities and competitive trends.
The ideal candidate should possess strong business acumen, excellent negotiation skills, robust market intelligence capabilities, and a proven track record in B2B sales and corporate relationship management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Growth & Expansion
- Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities in truck fleet management, logistics support services, vehicle maintenance contracts, leasing, and real estate investments.
- Expand the company’s customer base through proactive prospecting, strategic networking, and partnership development.
- Drive market penetration and enhance brand visibility across target industries.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Promote cross-selling and upselling opportunities across all business units to existing customers.
- Conduct regular client engagement meetings to identify additional business opportunities.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention through proactive relationship management.
Strategic Market Intelligence
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, economic developments, and emerging market opportunities.
- Provide Executive Management with actionable business insights, strategic recommendations, and growth opportunities.
- Identify emerging sectors and partnership opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
Proposal Development & Negotiation
- Prepare business proposals, presentations, tenders, and commercial offers to support business acquisition efforts.
- Lead contract negotiations and conclude commercially viable business agreements.
- Collaborate with the operations and finance teams to develop competitive pricing models.
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop strategic alliances with corporate organisations, government agencies, logistics companies, property developers, and investors.
- Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and business forums.
Performance & Reporting
- Prepare periodic business development reports, pipeline analyses, and revenue forecasts.
- Track business opportunities from lead generation through to deal closure.
- Deliver agreed sales and growth KPIs.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- BSc or HND in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Transport Management, Estate Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant years of experience.
- An MBA or relevant professional certification will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in Business Development, Corporate Sales, or Commercial Management.
- Prior experience in conglomerates, transportation and logistics, real estate, or heavy equipment and truck sales will be preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and securing major business accounts.
- Experience in managing B2B and corporate client relationships.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
- Strong reporting, research, confidentiality, attention to detail, deadline management, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
